Gangnam Style’s Psy questioned over K-pop sex and drugs scandal
K-pop star Psy was last week questioned in connection with a snowballing sex and drug scandal involving the founder of entertainment firm YG Entertainment, South Korean police have confirmed.
The questioning took place on June 16, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. It was part of an investigation into allegations that YG offered prostitution services to two investors from Southeast Asia in Seoul’s Gangnam district in July 2014.
The interrogation focused on Psy’s role in the scandal. Psy – best known for the viral hit Gangnam Style – denied allegations of any improper behaviour, according to reports. Further details are unknown.
Last month, Psy admitted he introduced the two investors to YG founder Yang Hyun-suk, but denied being involved in a prostitution service.
Earlier, police questioned a hostess, nicknamed “Jung Madame”, said to have arranged the illegal service. She denied being involved, according to reports.
“So far 10 people have been questioned in connection with the scandal,” said an investigator familiar with the case. “They were quizzed in the capacity of witnesses [not suspects].” He added it had not yet been decided when to summon the YG founder.
